Co-Founder

Steve Johnson brings more than 25 years of experience in the cheerleading community as an athlete, coach, and judge, along with extensive expertise in strength and conditioning and elite athlete development. He co-founded Hit Zero Performance to bring a more standardized, data-driven approach to athlete health, safety, and performance within cheerleading.

A multiple-time collegiate national champion, Steve competed on Large Coed teams and in collegiate partner stunt competitions at both NCA and UCA. During his competitive career, he earned national team titles with Hawaii Pacific University, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Oklahoma City University, as well as the 2010 Open Partner Stunt National Championship while at HPU. He went on to begin his collegiate coaching career at Oklahoma City University, where he helped lead the 2013 National Champion Large Coed and All-Girl teams and later guided the 2019–2021 squad to an NAIA Small Coed National Championship. Today, Steve coaches at Southern Nazarene University and Oklahoma State University, serves as a skills coach for Southmoore High School, and judges for national event producers including The One Prime Finals, American Spirit Championships, Deep South, and CX Brands.

 

At Hit Zero Performance, Steve combines his deep understanding of cheerleading with proven strength and conditioning principles to help athletes build structural resilience, improve performance, and execute elite skills safely and consistently. His approach emphasizes data-driven programming, athlete longevity, and creating the physical foundation necessary to meet the evolving demands of modern cheerleading.
